About Us

Joe and Shonda Chapman. That’s us. We got married in 1993, in the summer between our Sophomore and Junior years of college. And, no, we didn’t “have to” get married. No shotguns in sight. 31 years later we value some things which were affected by a restaurant closing. We value our marriage. We value our kids. We value our friends. We value good food. We value simplicity. We value frugality. Ok, Shonda values frugality. Joe thinks it’s a way to describe bad fruit. When Home 231 announced its closing in February 2025, we had been going there for about nine years and having our weekly date night there, at the same table, for about seven years. Creatures of habit about to be thrown from our habitat. Join us as we think of the past and search for our future haunt.

Shonda is the mother of two young men. She is the mother-in-law of one young woman. She homeschooled Josiah and Quincy from start to finish. They may never be finished. She went back to the world where people pay you to work in 2021. That year, she lost her mom. Quincy went off to college. Josiah got married. And she began working as the part-time volunteer coordinator at Harrisburg Hospital. She should write another blog about her amazing life. (Joe says…just sayin’)

Joe is a Christian, a husband, a dad, and works as a lawyer. He is a book reading, sports playing, bear hunting, trout fishing, computer nerd. And, he likes it that way.

And then, of course, there is Fudge.
